2013 Favorite Reads

Holy sugar sticks! I can’t believe the year is almost over! It's time to reflect on my favorite reads of 2013.

Last year I put together a list of My Top 5 Favorite Authors of 2012, but this year I thought I’d do something a little different. As far as books go, I’ve read so many that I loved this year. It was extremely hard to narrow it down to just a few favorites but I think I’ve finally done it. So here we go ...

Favorite book I read in 2013
This one is tough, but I think I have to go with Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. This book was absolutely delightful and utterly devastating.

My first status update when reading this one was: "I can't stop giggling and reading my husband lines from the book. He doesn't think it's as funny, but hey, what does he know? :)"

The first word out on my mouth when I closed this book was: "Wow!"

Favorite book that I was most excited to get my hands on in 2013
It was Skeleton Key Guild by MJ Fletcher.  I just couldn't wait to see how The Doorknob Society Saga would end and I must say, it was worth the wait.  Loved it!

Favorite series I read in 2013
Rhyn Trilogy!!! This series was seriously addictive. Thank you, Mandy, for constantly reminding me that I needed to read these books. You are the BEST! *Hugs*

Favorite ‘new to me’ author
This is an easy one for me. My favorite ‘new to me author’ is definitely Lizzy Ford. I bought her Rhyn Trilogy in 2012 but never got around to reading it until this year. After finishing it, I got a little 1-click happy with her books. Yep, I have them all now and can’t wait to read every single one.

Favorite book that my husband added to my TBR shelf in 2013
I should start by saying that my husband is not a reader so when he points out something he thinks I should try I’m always a little leery. This year he suggested A shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest and although I wasn’t sure what to think at first, I ending up really enjoying it.

Favorite book read in 2013 from one of my all time favorite authors
I’ve been addicted to the Morganville Vampires series since I stumbled across it in 2011. Rachel Caine has been one of my favorite authors since reading the first book, Glass Houses, so it was no surprise that I loved Fall of Night (Morganville Vampires, #14). If you love vampires and you want a good series then check this one out.

Favorite genre of 2013
YA Paranormal! Okay, so this is pretty much my favorite genre every year but I thought I’d add it to my favorites list anyway.

Well, that’s my list for 2013. What were your favorites this year?

Hugs,
